I love self-publishing. I love both the business and the art of it. I eat up all the success stories and even the failures that I read all over Medium. And while I haven’t self-published something of my own yet, I love helping others finish and print their own books.

I’ve already typeset, designed covers for, and printed four novels for a few friends and clients so that they could share their stories with their friends, family, and the world!

And let me tell you, getting a book ready for print is a real skill.

Typesetting involves a lot of attention to detail, and you can forget the little things when it comes time to export your manuscript for print. That means going back, changing things, reformatting, and fixing a ton of stuff to make sure the final product is a good one. As they say, measure twice and cut once.

There’s a reason people charge a lot of money to format and typeset your book! But what if you don’t have to be the one typesetting the book? What if you don’t have to pay anyone to do it for you?

That’s where free software like the Reedsy Book Editor comes in.
